😱 Ilya Sutskever Launches New AI Venture​

Ilya Sutskever has launched a new AI company focused on creating safe and powerful superintelligence, just a month after leaving OpenAI.

The details:

• The new company, named Safe Superintelligence (SSI), was co-founded by Sutskever, former Y Combinator partner Daniel Gross, and ex-OpenAI engineer Daniel Levy.
• SSI’s main goal is to develop beneficial superintelligent AI, which Sutskever believes could be achieved in about ten years.
• Unlike OpenAI, which is moving toward commercial products, SSI will remain a pure research organization without short-term business pressures.
• Funding details have not been revealed, but Gross mentioned that raising money will not be a problem for them.

🚀 Anthropic Launches Claude 3.5 Sonnet​

Anthropic has introduced Claude 3.5 Sonnet, a new and improved model that outperforms rivals like GPT-4o and its previous version, Opus, in key areas, with faster performance and lower costs.

Key Points:

• Claude 3.5 Sonnet is twice as fast as Opus and costs only a fifth of Anthropic’s earlier top-tier model.
• It surpasses Opus and GPT-4o in benchmarks for reasoning, coding, math, and knowledge.
• Anthropic added a new feature called ‘Artifacts,’ allowing users to view, edit, and build with Claude in a real-time side panel workspace.
• The company announced that 3.5 versions of Haiku and Opus will be released later this year, along with new features like Memory.

Why It Matters: After GPT-4o briefly held the top spot in the language model leaderboard, Anthropic’s new release seems to reclaim that position.
